Sterling Heights Planning Commission to act on 3 restaurants, high-end pet kennel

Three new food spots and a pet hotel are on the agenda for approval for this month’s Sterling Heights Planning Commission.
The new eateries include a rezoning for a Savvy Sliders hamburger joint on 15 Mile Road near Dodge Park Road; and special approval land uses for a Tim Hortons restaurant on Hall and Schoenherr roads, and a juice bar and restaurant Hayes Road north of 19 Mile Road.
- Businessman Moheep Alwadi of Marysville proposes to turn a closed, 1,200-square-foot Boost Mobile store on the west side of Hayes into a cafe with seating and carry-out service called Blended 365 The menu will include raw juices, salads, cold sandwiches, acacia bowls, and milkshakes. Proposed hours are noon-10 p.m.
- Hargrinder and Ravinder Sair of Shelby Township want to renovate 1,700 square feet of an existing vacant building into a fast-food eatery with a drive-through for a Tim Hortons off Schoenherr and Hall roads in the Lakeside Village District. Operating hours would be 5 a.m.-8 p.m. The remaining 2,000 square feet would be left for future development.
- Expo Properties of Sylvan Lake proposes to rezone 3,460 square feet of a vacant PNC Bank from C-1 (local convenience business) to C-3 (general business district) for a Savvy Sliders fast-food eatery on 15 Mile west of Dodge Park. The site has been vacant for about nine years.
The only non-food business up for approval is PetSuites on 15 Mile at the corner of Goetz Avenue, east of Mound Road.
Bunnell Hill Development proposes to construct a new building on 1.14 acres of vacant land to house a high-end pet care facility for cats and dogs, for short- and long-term stays. The facility would also provide grooming and training, and create 15 new jobs.
