New Porsche dealership to replace former Shelby Township racquetball club
The former Courtland Racquetball Club in Shelby Township is expected to be razed to make way for a new Porsche dealership.
Township staff said the new dealership would be about 23,000 square feet on the east side of Mound Road and north of Hall Road/M-59. Construction could start as soon as late May or early June, said John Vitale, architect on the project with Stucky Vitale Architects in Royal Oak.
“They want to move as quickly as possible,” Vitale said, referring to Rafih Auto Group, the Canada-based dealership group behind the project with operations in Windsor and North Olmstead, Ohio.
“As soon as they completed the construction documents, Rafih (will be) in a real big push to get it done.”

Other Rafih Auto Group dealerships in Michigan are BMW of Rochester Hills; Audi Rochester Hills and Motor City Mini in Southfield, according to the company’s website.
Nicholas Fiore, senior planner for Shelby Township, said the demolition timeframe on the existing nearly 20,000-square-foot former racquetball club building is contingent upon the developer submitting an application for the permit.
“It’s a really attractive development at the entrance to Shelby Township,” Fiore said.
A message was left with Rafih Auto Group leadership Friday afternoon seeking comment, as well as a manager at Porsche Motor City.
An entity tied to Rafih called My 10 Realty Corp. purchased the site from Mound M59 Properties LLC in February for an unknown price, according to Macomb County land records. That entity is registered to Philip Ruggeri in Sterling Heights.
Signature Associates’ Peter Vanderkaay and Ben Wilkiemeyer are proud to have been a part of this deal.
