M1 Concourse, an 87-acre motorsports community and entertainment facility in Pontiac, and Rochester Hills-based Prefix Corp., have agreed on a strategic partnership to create a new Service Center for the property, while providing private garage owners with a variety of vehicle performance services directly on site.
A brand new location within the M1 complex, which includes a 1.5-mile performance track called the Champion Motor Speedway, construction on the Service Center will begin next week following the American Speed Festival event this weekend. The cost of the facility was not disclosed.
“We’re excited about the partnership with Prefix as the official operator of the new M1 Service Center,” said Tim McGrane, CEO of M1 Concourse. “Their experience with luxury and performance vehicles, combined with an extensive list of amazing automotive capabilities, will provide our garage owners and track customers with an extremely capable resource for high-end vehicle services. This performance operation will be an exciting new attraction to M1.
“We look forward to having their new service facility available to both our garage owners, as well as the competitors and enthusiasts who partake in events at our track.”
The roughly 3,000-square-foot facility will offer the equipment and space required to perform regular maintenance, pre-race inspections, wheel mounting and balancing, alignments, and a variety of additional performance vehicle services. The M1 performance building will also include a fuel station with performance and recreational fuels.
All custom paint applications, vehicle restorations, and more extensive work will take place at the new Prefix 25-plus acre corporate headquarter campus in Rochester Hills.
“We’ve been discussing the idea for a couple years, and we are very excited about the current plan,” says Jhan Dolphin, vice president of business development at Prefix. “We continue to be impressed by M1 Concourse and its progress in establishing the location as a hub for all things automotive.”
With more than 300 employees and two Michigan-based facilities, Prefix has been in business for over 40 years and has built concept vehicles and prototypes in the automotive, aviation, and the themed-attractions industry.
The company’s departments and specialized capabilities provide industry clients with a one-stop-shop of services and expertise. The Performance division of Prefix builds race engines, works with OEMs on engine and drive train development, and specializes in high-end vehicle restorations, including luxury interiors and show car paint finishes.
In addition to hosting the second annual American Speed Festival this weekend, M1 Concourse hosts the annual Woodward Dream Show, Motor Trend’s Roadkill Nights, and monthly Cars & Coffees during the warmer months.
