Logistics company plans $17 million investment, up to 250 jobs in Brownstown Township
Dearborn-based Hollingsworth Logistics Group plans to invest $17 million into a 500,000-square-foot warehouse in Brownstown Township.
The third-party logistics company aims to create between 105 and 250 new jobs paying an average wage of $22.50 per hour, plus benefits, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Positions include packers, team leaders, supervisors and managers.
The industrial building at 17800 Dix Toledo Road will be built out into a warehouse and distribution center for Hollingsworth, which aims to begin operations and start hiring in the next nine months, with the full number of jobs added within two or three years, the MEDC said.
The state agency approved Tuesday a $1.5 million grant to support the project and keep it in Michigan, over alternative considerations in Texas, Ohio and Tennessee.
“It sends the message that Michigan’s economy is recovering. We’re creating jobs,” Quentin Messer, the MEDC’s newly hired CEO, said during a media briefing Tuesday. “We’re growing opportunity, we are enhancing communities, and that we couldn’t be more excited about.”
Messer started at the MEDC on a part-time basis earlier this month, making his first public appearance Monday during a news conference with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announcing a new $64.5 million investment in Walker by Speedrack Products Group.
“So that come July 12, I’ll have a smooth transition to my full-time employment status,” Messer said.
Hollingsworth is a privately held company headquartered in a 900,000-square-foot facility at 14225 W. Warren Ave. It employs 3,500 people across 31 sites in the U.S., including 550 in Michigan. Its clients come from a range of sectors, including automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, food and beverage, government and health care.
