First Whole Foods Market in Grand Rapids area opening Aug. 17

A Whole Foods Market at the Radcliff Plaza shopping center in Kentwood near Woodland Mall is opening Aug. 17, according to a sign hanging outside the store.

The store, 2897 Radcliff Ave. SE, has been under development since late 2020.

It’s the first Whole Foods Market in the Grand Rapids area. The chain, based in Austin, Texas, has four locations in the Detroit area, two in Ann Arbor and one in East Lansing.

The company describes itself as the “world’s leading natural and organic foods retailer,” and “the first certified organic national grocer.” It has more than 500 stores in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
