Wheeler Development Group has purchased a two-story building at 300 Ionia Ave. NW for its new headquarters.
The Grand Rapids-based development group, which has worked on a host of commercial and residential projects across West Michigan, bought the building for $2.25 million from construction firm Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., city property records show.
“As we’ve grown to a team of 25 employees and expanded our services, this relocation marks a new era for WDG,” said Ryan Wheeler, the development group’s president. “It creates continuity within our approach, and full-service capabilities within the real estate industry. This competitive edge drives innovation within our approach and has allowed us to sustain strategic growth throughout the last several years.”
Wheeler Development Group’s prior headquarter is located at 32 Market Ave. SW. The company did not own the building, but rather leased space there.
Based in Grand Rapids, Wheeler Development Group has completed a host of projects across the region, including the 92-unit Village East of Ada residential project, Evergreen Townhomes in Grand Rapids Township, and it’s currently building the 54-unit Hotel Rose in Rockford.
The development group’s affiliated companies include WDG Construction, PURE Real Estate Management and PURE Real Estate Brokerage.
Built in the 1960s, 300 Ionia Ave. NW is 13,726-square-feet in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. It was renovated in 2011 and offers parking on the street and in a surface parking lot, according to a news release.
“Beyond the building itself, this is a renewal of our company’s commitment to the community,” Wheeler said. “We chose this location with our future and our clients’ needs at top-of-mind.”
