Consumers Credit Union building office and retail space in Kalamazoo
Consumers Credit Union is kicking off construction on a new office and retail space in Kalamazoo’s Oakwood neighborhood.
Construction will begin within the next month at the corner of Parkview Avenue and Oakland Drive on a new location featuring two buildings: a 7,355-square-foot retail building, which will be available for lease, and a two-story, 4,391-square-foot Consumers office, which will occupy approximately two-thirds of the main floor.
The office is expected to open early next year with Consumers’ TellerPlus+ technology in the lobby and drive-thru lanes. The office also will include a free coffee bar, banking stations with Wi-Fi and loan and member service areas.
The Woods Lake office will feature a wide range of Consumers’ services, including new accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, investment services, business services and more.
Partners on the project include Portage-based contractor AVB and Kalamazoo-based building designer Bosch Architecture.
“We are thrilled to be adding our 26th office to serve Consumers’ 120,000 members across West Michigan,” said Consumers President and CEO Kit Snyder. “Our Consumers team works hard to assure our products and services are easily accessible so our members can bank how they want, when they want.”
Founded in 1951, Consumers has 23 West Michigan locations and over $1.8 billion in total assets.
The credit union has averaged 18% annual growth for the past 35 years and said it looks forward to continuing this trajectory by expanding its services into other markets in the coming year, including Lansing and Muskegon.
